Before you start using the watch, depending on the watch model you will either need to get a nano SIM-card or an eSIM profile. Below you will find our recommendations.
X1, X3S, XGO, XGO2, X4 and X5 Play: the SIM-card should have both unlimited voice minutes and around 150 MB of mobile data per month. Both contracts and pay as you go SIM-cards will work. Data volume might depend on personal usage.¹ XGO2 and X5 Play watches purchased on our UK website https://myxplora.co.uk/ come with a Giffgaff PAYG SIM-card that includes unlimited calls and 1GB of mobile data.
X5 Play eSIM: The eSIM should have both unlimited voice minutes and around 150 MB of mobile data per month. Data volume depends on the personal use.¹
¹ The watch can be connected to WiFi to lower the data usage, f.ex. while downloading a firmware update or uploading bigger files, such as songs and videos.
This list is being updated and only applies to the watches currently sold on our web shop - watches with an older firmware might not be able to use all the SIM cards on this list.
Important: We cannot guarantee the compatibility of different providers, even if they use the same network of those listed below.

² Make sure that your eSIM provider can deactivate the PIN code.
³ The 3G network has been switched off in Germany. This means that all the 3G devices: Xplora 1 and Xplora Care, will no longer work properly. We recommend buying our most recent models: X5 Play (eSIM) and XGO2. They all connect to the 4G network offering therefore much better connectivity.
⁴ Switzerland has partly switched off the 2G network. We only recommend our 4G watches: X5 Play (eSIM) and XGO2. The other watches might not work properly.
Note that not all providers operate 2G or 3G-networks. Before you purchase a SIM-card from one of the compatible providers, make sure that they provide the necessary network. X1 and XCare only use 3G, while X3S and XGO only use 2G network.
Like all smartphones, Xplora works on its own and therefore needs a separate SIM-card with an individual number (note: so-called twin SIMs / multi-SIMs can't be used).
